Back in 1948, Zupps opened for business with a single, family-run VW dealership in Ipswich. Then, as now, the heart of the business was delivering the kind of customer care that would build an enduring loyalty in everyone who stepped through our doors.
In the years since, Zupps expanded to become Queensland’s largest privately owned motor group, with multi-franchise dealerships all across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Then, in May 2007, Zupps was purchased by the Automotive Holdings Group (AHG), a Perth-based company that traces its origins back to 1952. AHG is Australia’s largest motoring group, and Zupps is proud to be a big part of its success.
Today, Zupps employs around 800 Queenslanders, across 12 vehicle dealerships, 3 truck and commercial vehicle centres, and a large parts distribution network.
The Zupps Group has a proud history and strong connection with the people of South-East Queensland, serving the community from several locations including: Aspley, Mt Gravatt, Browns Plains, Beaudesert, Southport, Helensvale, Capalaba, Burleigh and Rocklea.
Zupps’ new car dealerships sell and service an extensive range of new vehicles from 12 manufacturers including: Holden, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, HSV, Subaru, Peugeot, Nissan and Kia. These dealerships also sell the very best range of used vehicles in Queensland, all backed by a FREE AHG Extended warranty* and a FREE 100-point safety and mechanical inspection.
In addition to our strong presence in the passenger vehicle market, Zupps also sells commercial vehicles including Mitsubishi Fuso trucks, UD trucks and Higer buses. Importantly, we have extensive experience in this market (we’ve operated the Mitsubishi Fuso and Nissan UD franchises for more than 20 years!).
Zupps operates a fully-computerised trade-only Parts and Distribution Centre at Coopers Plains (for mechanical workshops, smash repairers and car dealerships). This centre stocks an immense range of genuine parts and accessories from a wide variety of manufacturers, including Holden, HSV, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Suzuki, Kia, Saab, Hummer and AC Delco. It’s a one-stop shop for all your parts needs.
All Zupps Service facilities are world class. They’re equipped with the most up-to-date automotive technology available, including the very latest factory-specific computers and diagnostic systems. They’re also staffed by professional, factory-trained service technicians who are specialists in the vehicles they service. So they all possess the equipment and the know-how to service any modern motor vehicle to the very highest standards of quality, quickly and efficiently.
Naturally we go to great lengths to provide for your comfort and convenience while your vehicle is being serviced. Most of our service centres feature Customer Service Lounges with free tea and coffee making facilities, playtime equipment for the kids, business work-stations with telephones and fax machines, and a selection of videos for free viewing. We also provide free shuttle buses at some locations, to take you into the CBD or in and around the local surrounding suburbs.
It was Ipswich Show Day in the 1960s, and someone had the bright idea of an elephant race. Officials sought sponsorship to make it happen. Big John Zupps saw the potential, threw a giant rug with Zupps Printed on the sides over his elephant, and entered it in the race. Big John liked the result so much, he decided to make it what is now one of the most recognised logos in the motor industry. The giant elephant is now synonymous with Zupps Motors.
(An interesting piece of trivia: History has forgotten where the Zupps elephant finished on that Ipswich Show Day, but it has not forgotten its rider, Mr Bill Hayden, former Governor-General of Australia, and then local member for Ipswich.)
